Iowa’s Professor of the Year for 2006, Jeff Barker has written more than 50 plays, including Unspoken for Time, published by Dramatic Publishing, and Kin, a finalist for the Arlin Meyer Prize in 2005.
Barker’s play September Bears, about events surrounding 9/11, was featured on the FOX News Channel in 2003. In 2004, the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center opened with And God Said, a musical Barker created in collaboration with Broadway composer Ron Melrose.
In 2006, Barker was appointed to the Northwestern College Endowed Professorship, a position he will hold until 2011. Barker’s M.F.A. is from the University of South Dakota. Jeff is the father of three, and devoted husband to Karen.
